Report on the Action Research Session organised by the Department of Education, IISU, on September 29, 2021

The Department of Education, IISU, organised a Session for all the Semester VII  students of the B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. Programmes (Batch 2018-219) on September 29, 2021, between 9.30 am and 11.00 am, at the Audio-Visual Auditorium in the IISU campus.

The objective was to make students know about Action Research study in depth to facilitates teaching learning Environment for the students

On the spot research aimed at the solution of an immediate problem is generally known as Action Research. It is the research undertaken by practitioners so that they may improve their practice. So it is no exaggeration to say that action research is the research by the practitioner, of the practitioner and for the practitioner.

Dr. Sunil Khurana, Principal (IIERD) was invited as Speaker in the session.

Ms. Aruna Mathur, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, welcomed our esteemed guest, all the faculty members and students to the programme. The session was handed over to our respected guest. First of all she introduced herself to the students and become familiar with them. Then she began her session on Action Research by explaining its basic meaning and definition. She presented and discussed the following through a PowerPoint presentation:

  • Definitions of Action Research
  • Examples of Action Research
  • Key Characteristics
  • The Action Research cycle
  • Designs of Action Research
  • Steps of Action Research

 

At the end, a question- answer session was held wherein students clarified their doubts regarding how to choose a research problem, steps related to action research and reporting of the research findings. Total 54 students and 4 faculty members participated in the session.

The programme ended with a formal vote of thanks. It is hoped that this session will help the students to take up action research in the internship schools.
