Objective: 

This course will enable the student to

  1. examine the ideas of prominent western educational thinkers which provide a philosophical basis for contemporary Indian education policy and practice especially with reference to aims and values
  2. analyze the status, problems and concerns related to school education in India
  3. discuss the values enshrined in the Constitution of India and the provisions related to education
  4. explain the programmes run by the Government of India to promote equality and equity in the context of education
  5. justify the need and importance of developing sensitivity in teaching as a profession
