Report on “Building Teaching Competencies Programme”
The Department of Education organized a “Building Teaching Competencies Programme” for Semester VIII students of B.A. B.Ed and B.Sc. B.Ed between 13 January, 2020 and 31 January 2020. The major objective of this programme was to prepare competent teachers by providing them hands-on experience in simulated conditions and reduce the complexities of real classroom conditions by working on their weaknesses.
The programme was conducted in small groups wherein students were classified in groups based on their teaching subjects. Each group performed all its activities under the supervision of their subject teachers. During this programme, the students were given practice on assimilation of different teaching skills, teaching methodologies, techniques of classroom management and formative assessment techniques. The students received continuous feedback from the subject in-charge which enabled them to improve their teaching competencies.
The 15 days programme proved to be highly beneficial for the students and adequately prepared them to face any challenges of the real classroom environment.
