Report on “Building Teaching Competencies Programme”

The Department of Education organized a ‘Building Teaching Competencies Programme” for semester VI students of B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. between 1 April, 2021 and 15 April 2021. The major objective of this programme was to prepare competent teachers by providing them hands- on experience in simulated conditions before exposing them in real classroom conditions.

The programme was conducted in small groups. All students classified in groups based on their teaching subjects.  Each group performed all its activities under the supervision of their subject teachers. During this programme, the students were given practice on different teaching skills, teaching methodologies, classroom management and formative assessment techniques. The students received feedback from the subject in- charge on regular basis which enable them to work on their problem areas and subsequently improve their teaching competencies.

The 15day programme proved to be highly beneficial for the students and adequately prepared them to face any challenge of the real classroom environment.
